As part of the Supporting Language Use in Academic Contexts Module, the Indigenous Language Speakers Pathway is one of three pathways which follow the interactive Academic Language: Introduction. This interactive course affirms and amplifies the rich cultural and linguistic resources of Indigenous language speakers. We provide an overview of the linguistic landscape of Alaska, as well as introduce the population of Native American students in California. We share culturally responsive, relevant and sustaining recommendations for educator practice, as well as student examples. We share assessment considerations and provide reflection opportunities that encourage users to relate their learning to their future or current practice.
