Academic Language: Introduction
Overview
This interactive introductory course explores the academic uses of language and the contrast between General American English (GAE) and academic language. It guides educators and school staff in building students’ linguistic repertoires through culturally responsive, relevant, and sustaining practices. This course provides a brief overview of linguistic diversity and provides recommendations for educator practice, interactive tools, and opportunities for reflection. This course prepares users for further learning in one or all of the following pathways focused on different student populations.
