Overview

This TK–5 toolkit includes videos and downloadable resources created for parents and educators of children in transitional kindergarten through fifth grade. Separate, practical materials are available for each audience — so you get strategies that fit your role.

Bullying can be overwhelming for young children. It affects their emotions, their learning, and their sense of safety. For children who are neurodivergent, or perceived as neurodivergent, differences in how they learn, communicate, move, or interact can increase their risk of being bullied — even in the early grades.

In this toolkit, you will learn what bullying looks like in elementary school, what neurodiversity means, and how early childhood brain and behavioral development shape bullying situations. You will also gain age-appropriate, research-based strategies to support neurodivergent children — whether they are experiencing bullying, witnessing it, or struggling to understand social situations. Downloadable resources are available for parents (to use at home and in the community), for educators (for classroom routines, school-wide policies, and student support), and for students to support themselves and their peers. Together, we can create inclusive elementary schools and homes where every young child feels belonging, safety, and connection.
