Overview

This webinar will introduce the SB 939 Resource Toolkit, developed by a team of undergraduate students in response to California Senate Bill 939. Designed for students and families as well as school communities, the toolkit provides accessible resources to help students better understand where and how to seek support in bullying incidents involving students who are neurodivergent, encouraging stronger communication with trusted adults, including school staff and parents/caregivers.

Learning objectives

  • Introduce students, families, and educators to the SB 939 Resource Toolkit, including tip sheets designed for educators, students, and families in grades TK–5 and 6–12, and explain how to access and use these resources
  • Help students and families better understand the protections provided under SB 939, including protections for students who report bullying, and address common concerns that may prevent students from speaking up
  • Share practical language, conversation starters, and strategies from the toolkit to help students and families feel more prepared to discuss bullying with school staff, parents, and other trusted adults
