Overview
California’s recent legislation protecting recess for all children marks a crucial step in promoting children’s health and well-being. Recess is more than just a break from academics—it is a vital opportunity for social and emotional development, self-regulation, and peer relations. For children with disabilities, recess is as important as classroom learning, providing a natural setting where targeted interventions can support social, emotional, and behavioral growth. This talk will explore Remaking Recess and other evidence-based social skills interventions that have been successfully implemented in public schools. These interventions not only benefit children with disabilities but also enhance the recess experience for all students.
