Overview

As California marks 175 years of statehood and the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, this three-part recorded series invites high school and college students across California to explore how awareness and passion can become civic action. Through sessions focused on California’s legislative, executive, and judicial branches, viewers will learn how state government works and how students can engage with each branch to make their voices heard. The series highlights TK–16 education as a powerful entry point for civic participation, showing how policy decisions shape the experiences of learners, educators, and communities across the state. Hosted by the UC|CSU Collaborative, this series connects research, policy, and practice while demonstrating how civic engagement can strengthen communities, support student well-being, and expand opportunity. Viewers will come away with a deeper understanding of California government and practical ways students can participate in shaping a more inclusive, accessible education system for all.
