About
Rebecca Corbett has been a self-advocate for much of her life but learned about systems advocacy 10+ year ago when being part of an advocacy group called Consumer Action Committee (CAC) through her Futures Explored day program. As an advocate, she has spoken to a variety of programs and schools about advocacy needs and issues of importance for people with disabilities. She has been a part of the East Bay Legislative Coalition (EBLC), and her county’s Developmental Disabilities Council, where she has advocated to and educated local and state legislators about disability rights, including during Town Halls, legislative meetings and the EBLC Breakfasts. Recently, Rebecca was a presenter at the CA Parent Teacher Association Convention, speaking on the values and elements of inclusive education. Additionally, Rebecca has been involved in rallies and die-ins focused on disability rights -- how our lives would be if the government were to cut our services, support, and health care.
