Jada Augustine is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and doctoral student in the joint Special Education program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA). She holds a Master’s degree from Howard University and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology with a minor in Child Development from California State University, Long Beach. A proud HBCU alum and advocate for equity in education, Jada combines research, clinical work, and community service across both local and international settings. She is the founder and CEO of Beyond the Label Advocacy and Speech Therapy, PC, a private practice based in Los Angeles that provides speech therapy and IEP advocacy with a focus on culturally and linguistically responsive care. Jada also leads Jada’s Got Your Backpack, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to serving children and families with disabilities in Belize. Through this work, she spearheads disability camps, family outreach, and professional development for educators under the initiative Beyond the Label Belize. Her research centers on early childhood special education, with a focus on autistic Black students and their preschool-to-kindergarten transitions in both Los Angeles and Belize. She is committed to advancing inclusive practices and dismantling systemic barriers for neurodivergent children around the world.
