Christina Zavala is the SELPA Director for the Imperial County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA). Ms. Zavala holds 12 years of experience, with a background in School Psychology, working with students and families with disabilities. Ms. Zavala is passionate in advocating and supporting the need for inclusive practices to support access and equity for students with disabilities. Ms. Zavala has worked as a School Psychologist, Director of Special Education, Licensed Educational Psychologist, and presently as a SELPA Coordinator of Inclusionary Practices. Over the years she has expanded her knowledge in the field of special education. and assessment by obtaining a post- graduate certificate in School Neuropsychology and becoming certified in conducting Assistive Technology evaluations. Currently, she is part of the Special Education Resource Lead work: Improving Outcomes for Multilingual Students with Exceptional Needs, in partnership with the California Department of Education and the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence.
