Joanna Hayman is a CGI Math Coach for Students with Disabilities with the UCLA Mathematics Project. In her work, she aims to increase access to meaningful and humanizing mathematics for students with disabilities. She is a former elementary teacher who taught grades 2–5 in Los Angeles for 12 years. Her work with teachers and schools centers the thinking, participation, and educational experiences of students with disabilities in mathematics classrooms. Her recent professional work focuses on inclusive mathematics coaching, Cognitively Guided Instruction, teacher learning, and disability justice in mathematics education.
