Dr. Rebekka J. Jez is an Associate Professor at University of San Diego’s (USD) School of Leadership and Education Sciences in the Department of Learning and Teaching. Dr. Jez teaches in the PhD in Education for Social Justice and dual teaching credential and master’s programs. She has contributed to the field of education through scholarship on culturally responsive and sustaining inclusive practices, trauma-informed approaches/healing practices, holistic assessment of learners, postsecondary transition for TK-12 learners, and collaboration with learners, families, educators, and communities locally, nationally, and globally. She has authored multiple journal articles and chapters on this work. Internationally, Dr. Jez is a past president of the Division for International Special Education and Services, on the board of trustees of Balang Foundation (South African Literacy Non-Profit Organisation), and on the editorial board of the African Journal of Teacher Education and Development. Nationally, she chairs the Human Rights and Diversity Committee, co-founded the Beyond Inclusion Conference to support inclusive practices in Catholic and private schools, and represents USD as an invited member of the national Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability, and Reform Center. Within California, Dr. Jez serves on the Board of Directors for Nativity Preparatory School.
