Dr. David Weissman is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at California State University, Dominguez Hills, where he directs the Resilience, Affect, and Neurodevelopment (RAN) Lab and teaches courses in developmental psychology and the science of emotions. His research investigates how adverse childhood experiences like abuse, neglect, and poverty impact the way young people experience emotions in their brains, bodies, and minds, and the role that plays in their mental health. Dr. Weissman’s research interests and pedagogical philosophy are informed by his education and training in developmental cognitive neuroscience and affective science as a PhD student at UC Davis and a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University as well as by his experience as a middle school science teacher.
